If this were real, why hasn't anything been reported on the news? And also if this were real, why are your characters so...simple. Why are they not hysterical, or even crying or seem sad that there son, brother, friend is missing and being tourcherd. Even babies have sin, they are greedy of there mothers attention and love. It's what humans only know how to do, and if one were to say they have not sin, well wouldn't "god" already have taken them to be a saint or something. I to am an artist of many flavors, if it were a joke it would still be a great masterpiece as an artists' view.
A way to get a good start on the codes is to look for the letter that is most used in them, and list that as 'E', then look for words like 'EVER' or 'EVEN'
after those you can look for words that would consist of 'R_N' or 'V_N' and accosiate these to RUN and RAN and VAN, and use the letters R,V,A,E,U, and N to decipher them.
This makes me so mad that this continues and that something is not done about it. I checked with the CA DOJ several months back on this situation involving Eric Taylor. It was investigated and found that both Eric and the person holding him as "the human pet" are trying to get their foot in the door as actors/directors and this is a gag they came up with by circulating it on the internet hoping it would raise some attention. It did because it's still going all these months later!
Thank you for letting us know though. We would rather know about it than not know about it, even if it is a gag, so we can check it out.
